The Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering at Colorado State University announces a college-wide search for six new faculty members who use artificial intelligence (AI) as a key component of their research programs and who aspire to develop innovative AI educational programs. We welcome candidates who develop foundations of AI in an engineering context, generate data for their AI models, or otherwise apply AI to solve engineering challenges. Each new faculty member will have their academic home in one or two of the departments within the College.

We seek faculty members who apply AI to advance our areas of unique research expertise. These are elaborated below for each department and include prediction of climate and intense weather events using data from satellites and radars; novel approaches to synthetic biology and high-throughput biological synthesis; use of satellite data for water resource management; development of models and sensors for improving infrastructure resilience; unique high-power, ultra-short pulse laser systems for fusion and other applications; and cyber-physical systems.  Click here for more information.

The Colorado Water Center director is appointed by the President of Colorado State University to serve as the chief executive, academic, and policy officer of the Center, reporting directly to the Vice President for Engagement and Extension.

The director provides leadership and oversight of the Center’s portfolio of research, education, engagement, and service activities, which is developed and implemented in collaboration with CSU faculty and staff affiliates, partner higher education institutions across Colorado, and a variety of partner scholars, agencies, and organizations.

The director facilitates planning and continuous improvement of the Center’s activities, supported by a statutory external advisory committee. The director also develops strategic, staffing, and budget plans to implement an innovative and impactful water agenda that addresses state and regional needs and is accountable for raising extramural resources through grants, contracts, gifts, and program fees.

In addition, the director is a critical public voice and recognized national expert on water scholarship and policy issues, representing the Center at various water-related organizations, convenings, and policy conversations.

The director also serves as a key member of the Office of Engagement and Extension’s executive leadership team, promoting impactful engaged scholarship to fulfill CSU’s land-grant mission.

The Illinois State Water Survey is seeking a Survey Director who will provide strategic direction and overall administration for the Survey to administer research activities of the Survey by conceiving, recommending, implementing, directing, and participating in scientific research focused on the selected candidate’s area of study while contributing to the overall scientific mission of the Prairie Research Institute (PRI). Griffith Endowed Chair in Agriculture and Water Resources and South Dakota Water Resources Institute Director. This role will be pivotal in shaping the trajectory of water-related research and outreach initiatives. The Department of Watershed Sciences at Utah State University (USU) invites applications for a full-time (12-month), tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor in water quality management. The position’s responsibilities will be distributed as follows: 60% extension, 30% teaching, and 10% university/professional service. The position will be based at USU’s main campus in Logan, Utah, with a start date of August 2025.
They are seeking candidates who will develop and lead a statewide extension program focused on water quality management and collaborate with diverse stakeholders. The position may also involve applied research in support of the extension program.
