The Universities Council on Water Resources recognizes individuals who have made substantial contributions in time and effort toward the goals of UCOWR by naming them Friends of UCOWR.
Eligible Activities
Eligibility for selection based on service to the Council. No specific criteria are used, however, some could include:
1) Regular participation in annual meetings over the years in a leadership role (such as a major speaker).
2) Chairmanship of standing or ad hoc committees for five or more years total.
3) Membership on the Board of Directors
Nomination Procedure
Nominations are accepted from UCOWR delegates. The nomination letter should be no more than two pages in length. The letter must contain the name and contact information of the nominee (or representative of the nominated organization).
Deadline
Nomination materials should be submitted by email to ucowr@siu.edu no later than November 1, 2024.
Review Process
Nominations are reviewed by a committee which will submit a recommendation to the Board of Directors. At its spring meeting, the Board will select no more than three living candidates to receive the title “Friends of UCOWR.” The number of posthumous awards is not limited.
Award
Certificates will be presented to those selected as Friends of UCOWR, or to a surviving relative, at the Awards Luncheon held Wednesday, June 4, at the 2025 UCOWR/NIWR Annual Water Resources Conference, scheduled for June 3 – June 5, 2025, in Minneapolis, MN, at the Graduate Hotel.
