Dr. Ginger Paige
Ginger Paige, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management and Water Resources Specialist for Extension at the University of Wyoming. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Wyoming in 2004, Ginger worked as a research scientist for the USDA –ARS Southwest Watershed Research Center in Tucson, Arizona for 12 years. Ginger is a watershed hydrologist with expertise in measurement and modeling of hydrologic processes. She works with Federal, State, and Tribal agencies, watershed groups, and individuals across the state and region to improve water resource monitoring, management, and assessment.
Ginger engages in water resources research and inter-disciplinary extension programs to address complex water resource needs. Recently, her research and extension programs have focused on 3 priority areas: 1) improving hydrologic instrumentation and measurement networks to facilitate water resource management and decision making; 2) modeling of hydrologic processes, watershed and agricultural systems, to improve our understanding of the partitioning of water across landscapes in response to climate and management drivers; and 3) working with communities and stakeholders to identify pathways to build resilience regarding changes in water availability in the face of climate change. In addition, for the past several years she has collaborated with agencies on the Wind River Indian Reservation to improve hydrologic instrumentation, climate and stream gauging networks, and build tribal capacity in water resource management.
Ginger has served as a Universities Council on Water Resources board member since 2020 and is now serving as president for the 2026-2027 cycle. She has been an active participant in UCOWR and was the conference chair for the 2023 Annual Conference in Fort Collins.
