Are you a student or early‑career professional in hydrology or a related field? Read on to learn more about an opportunity regarding the AIH Fundamental Exam and the Hydrologist‑in‑Training (HIT) certification.
From September through December 2026, qualified applicants can take the AIH Fundamental Exam with no upfront exam or application fees. If they pass the exam and choose to pursue the AIH Hydrologist-in-Training (HIT) certification, the certification fee is $150, which includes a $50 application fee and a $100 exam fee, a 50% discount from the regular $200 exam fee. If an applicant does not pass the Fundamental Exam, there is no exam fee.
To get started applicants should:
1. Create an account in the AIH Certemy database and submit their application:

2. Send their official transcripts for review.
3. Allow up to three weeks for the eligibility evaluation before scheduling the exam.
